Once Again…Nut Butter?

Let me Introduce you to Once Again Nut Butter. A wonderful American company doing great things. Thanks to Mom’s Meet for picking me to be a “Mom Blogger” and “Mom Ambassador” I got to try Once Again free for reviewing and sharing the Product and company. But, All opinion is my own. We enjoyed learning about the company. An I loved the four Once Again Nut Butters I got to try. Let me tell you more.
Once Again has a great beginning story. Not only did it start out as a small company in the state of New York. The Raccoon mascot actually was created because of the baby racoons they adopted after the mom was gone. Besides being good to nature. The products are all natural, Organic, kosher and non GMO.

The nut butters we got to sample were the Sunflower, Almond, Cashew, and good ol Peanut butter. The sunflower was definitely an interesting taste. I love Sunflower seeds an the Sunflower nut butter taste creamy with a hint of sunflower.

The Peanut Butter is great. Unless your my 7 year old an so used to PB with sugar, she wasn’t a fan. But, as soon as you slap on Jelly to the other side of the bread. She ate it with no complaints. I enjoy the fact there are no added ingredients you can’t pronounce.

The Almond Butter was so yummy. As someone who loves Almonds. It’s amazing to have a whole jar of almond heaven. This has a slightly bumpy texture. I used this in creating my smoothie and granola bars. Look for recipes at the end of this blog.
My favorite to put on toast, waffles, pancakes was the Cashew Butter. I love cashews and this is so delicious and smooth. The possibilities for creating recipes are endless. I can’t wait to keep experimenting. If you like your PB or are a nut lover? You gotta try them in Nut Butter form. Check out Once Again Nut Butter today.

Gut Health

How Pre & Probiotics work.

It seems more and more we are hearing about Pre & Probiotics. An daily a new Probiotic supplement is hitting the shelves to help our intestinal health. Although a supplement may be needed. There are plenty of foods that have Probiotics naturally. Try to get your daily meals filled with them.

Here is the difference between the two.

Prebiotics- Carbs that cannot be digested. Food for Probiotics.

Probiotics- The Good or helpful bacteria. Helps control growth of harmful bacteria. Naturally found in the body an can be found in some foods and supplements.

In the mid 90’s people wanted to know more. An doctors started suggesting them to help digestive problems.

Two major types of Probiotics are:

Lactobacillus, most common Probiotic found in yogurt and other fermented foods. They say may actually help those who can’t normally digest lactose.

Bifidobacterium- found in some dairy. May help ease Irritable Bowl Syndrome.

There is also research that may suggest it also helps with skin conditions, urinary health, allergies, oral health, and colds.

You can Google search and find plenty of foods with Probiotics. Here are a few of my favorites.

  • Dark Chocolate
  • Greek Yogurt
  • Sauerkraut
  • Wine
  • Green Olives
  • Pickles
  • Sourdough Bread
  • Cottage Cheese

Always ask your physician before starting supplements. But, a probiotic supplement added to your daily lifestyle may help digestive and bloating problems. Especially if natural Probiotics foods are not your favorite. This could be a way to help your gut and get more Probiotics in your system. Take a look, there usually found in the vitamin aisle. If your having any intestinal or bowl problems ask your doctor about probiotic supplements.

Raw Spice Bar, Spice up your tastebuds!

So a couple months back RawSpiceBar.com sent BeanStyled an email asking us to review their new concept of a monthly spice pack. You recieve 3 different blended spices and recipies to make. Even more knowledge is provided with every month being from a different region of the world. Well, somehow we ended up with two months and couldn’t wait to share our review!

First came the “Pondicherry Kit” then the “Oktoberfest Flavor Kit”. Overall review: it brought my family together in the kitchen to learn about what we were cooking, where it comes from, and learning new ways to cook with spices. Not everything was to our tastebud’s liking, but we enjoyed the process and our Raw Spices.

With the two we ended up with Breakfast, a dinner, and a snack. The Peppercorn Masala Chai was too spicy, but had a sweet flavor at first. However, If your a Chai lover this might be right up your alley. Only thing I think we may have messed up on was straining it completely. The Vadouvan Scrambled eggs were absolutely yummy. Everyone actually ate all the eggs. An with 6 eggs used there was enough for 4 people. An the Baked Pumpkin Donuts were so delicious that recipe is sure to be used again in this home! They made the perfect christmas morning breakfast for everyone. An needless to say I had a couple with my morning coffee!

Next, dinner time. The Horseradish and Mustard cabbage was a very unlikely hit at the dinner table! I think we all had our noses turned up (even though the aroma was pleasant) because no one really likes cabbage. Yet again it goes to show cooking with all natural spices can possibly help you even eat healthier vegtables with the help of learning to cook with certain spices. Raw Spice Bar has definitly convinced me of that. We paired that side with the German Chicken Schnitzel. It took awhile for the husband to prepare, but made a lot of seasoning and therefore chicken. Again, it was a great pairing to the cabbage and chicken turned out juicy and tasted like a 5 star chef prepared it. The Caraway cheese Soft pretzels.Well, lets just say those didn’t turned out as planned. So that would be the only downfall. You got one chance to make it right. However that doesn’t leave us unsatisifed. A video might have helped on that one. But, I will take responsibility for chef errors.

You can’t really explain smells or great tasting food through a written article. However you can check out Raw Spice Bar and see how great it is yourself! Get your flavor profile made, get customized recipes, an be able to shop your favorites. For $8 a month an knowing how expensive some herbs and spices can be in the stores. This is a wonderful way to learn to cook with spices an be educated on them.

Thermo Burn!

thermogenic

Let’s talk about thermogenics in losing weight. It’s a way to increase basal metabolic rate to help burn calories. Burning calories to utilize the food consumed. Some created supplements are used to increase your metabolic rate and usually have energy expenditure as well with caffeine and ephedrine just to name a couple. However there are many natural ways to increase our metabolic rate with foods that are naturally thermogenic. Look for foods that are known to increase your metabolism and your eating thermogenic foods to help burn calories!

We don’t need to make a huge list of thermogenic foods. You can simply google, read, and ask your nutritionist and doctors and they will flood you with food choices.

As a health coach it is not usually the food we eat when we are consciously eating healthy. It is the portions an the extras. So no matter how healthy the food. Keep the portions reasonable to what your eating and no extra dressings, or toppings are the best way to go.

Try this switch in your meal plans. When your wanting a snack make sure that snack is a thermogenic food. Or to sneak it into your meals start adding and cooking with the natural herbs and spices. If your using both spices and eating foods to help increase metabolism, keeping them in portions for some may be a way to increase metabolism naturally and help lose and/or maintain a healthy weight.

Let us know what foods you try, what other not so healthy foods you have replaced with a thermogenic rich food, and Share Recipes!
